Hello Jane88
The AFCD do a good book called 'Beautiful Lantau', that was available in the ferry shop in the Central Pier. Has a lot of Lantau hiking information.
The Green Lantau group used to have a hiking page on their website: www.GreenLantau.com (http://www.GreenLantau.com) but doesn't appear to be there at the moment. Might be an idea to contact them directly (info@greenlantau.com).

Lots of great hikes in Lantau.
Best mountain hikes:
Sunset Peak - start at Namshan, which is about 2k out of Mui Wo, on the crest of the hill. Takes about 1-1 1/2 hours to Sunset Peak. You used to be able to complete it at Pak Gong Au on Tung Chung Rd - not sure if you still can now.
Pak Gong Au is also a starting point for Lantua Peak hike. It's a bit strenuous - you need to be reasonably fit. About 2 1/2 hours to go all the way through to Ngong Ping.
Nice easy coastal walk from SHui Hau down onto the coast and finishing by Shek Pik prison. Or start at Ham Tin and walk around coast up back to Mui Wo or over the mountain back to Nam SHan.

I saw a copy of Beautiful Lantau for sale in the Book store in Mui Wo the other day.
This would be a good start.

Asl long as you arn't the Phantom Gobbler of Pak Gnan Heung-a repeat performance would do for me-you can join me on a mini hike every morn from Ma Po Tseun. Sunset Peak next week.

Difficult finding bad places to hike to in lantau. Sorry. Of course there are. The trek, back and forth between Rosanna's and The Toilet Bar is definitely to be avoided. Head for the hills, young lady..plenty of water and keep to the straight and narrow at this time of year. Not that the snakes will have you-as much chance of getting a nip as winning the mark six. Getting lost in the undergrowth..in this heat would do for you. Well, it might if you were stupid. Stupid or not, avoid like the plague the first mentioned trek! If you did not lose yourself at some point, there is a 100% chance of someone putting the bite on you. Have fun in those hills!

hi Jane88
Just wondered if you are still looking for someone to go hiking with on Lantau?
I know many walks and would be keen to get out in the hills especially now the weather is a bit cooler.
Please reply if you are interested.
Daisy.

Comrade and fellow hiker,
Yes. you can take a stroll with me. Mind, I have a fair bit of work on at present so I simply cannot down tools anytime and take to the hills, as ever much I would like to. Possibly Sunday's?
Cheers.
Daisy.
