Large vessel off Pui O beach

does anyone know what that large vessel floating in the distance off pui o beach is? it has been sat there fore over a week and looks like a large xmas tree at night.

It is (was) an inshore cable ship.

PCCW's major offshore cable landing station and exchange is in Tong Fuk. The ship was off Tong Fuk/Cheung Sha for about three weeks completing the landing of a new cable, called AAG (Asian-American Gateway) I think. Apparently there are a lot of cables under the sand, requiring some untangling (if that's the right word).

But no idea why it was so brightly lit up. Or why it was three decks high and never any sign of anyone on board.
