Does anyone know when the buses begin using the new road? Or any details about re-routing?

NOTICE TO PASSENGERS
Arrangement for NLB bus services

Summary

The new section of Tung Chung Road between Pak Kung Au and San Shek Wan will be open to traffic from 10.00 am on 6 February 2009. Meanwhile, the existing road section between Pak Kung Au and Cheung Sha Bridge will be closed. All bus routes will be diverted to use the new road section. NLB route 3M (Tung Chung Town Centre – Mui Wo) will no longer observe South Lantau Road section between Cheung Sha Bridge and Upper Cheung Sha Village. At the same time, NLB Rt. 11, 23 and A35 will route via the new road section. Passengers to and from South Lantau shall take Rt. 11 or 23.

Well found, Natasha, thank you!
Well, I damn well hope they'll be putting on more No. 11s then, specially in the afternoon - from Tai O, they're already chock-a-block by the time they reach Tong Fuk, same with the 23 fron Ngong Ping. Hmmm. I fear the worst...

...And in case anyone's wondering (as I was) about how the new route affects travelling time, it's the same (from Tong Fuk). They have reorganized the schedule and updated the website, so...so far, so good.

It's one huge concrete extravaganza, but the views from the new section are absolutely breathtaking.
