We want to buy a Motorbike/Scooter 250-400cc, like a Skywave or Majesty anyone have one for sale or know someone that does?
Also what is required 'permit wise' to use in South Lantau and to take it over to North Lantau on the old and new road (whenever that will be open).

Hello Kawicott
I have used this website in the past for buying and selling motorbikes and scooters in Hong Kong: www.ibike.com.hk (http://www.ibike.com.hk/). It appears to have the biggest listing of bikes here that I have seen.
To ride a bike on South Lantau, you need to apply for a Lantau Closed Road Permit. The form can be collected from the Transport Department or downloaded from their website.
Alternatively you can download a copy from this site - click the link below:
Lantau Closed Road Permit (http://www.lantauchat.com/showthread.php?p=188#post188)
Worth noting - if you do not intend to take your car or bike off the Island you can apply for Lantau only road tax and receive a 75% reduction in the annual tax fee. This allows you to drive in Lantau including to the Airport, Tung Chung and Disney.

I received an email from the Transport Department about 3 weeks ago saying there is now no final opening date for the new Tung Chung road (due to the damage from the heavy rain) but they are aiming for the last quarter 2008.

Hi Buffalo Bill
Thanks for the info on 'www.ibike.com.hk' will be checking it out later. Also the info on the Permit, I did seem to get lost on the Transport Department website looking for the right form and information.
Thats interesting about 'Lantau only road tax', wasn't aware of that, thanks again. :)

Hello Kawicott
You can tell the Lantau only tax as it has a diagonal green stripe across it to show the car is not permitted in Hong Kong.
