Ark Eden is an integrated conservation strategy that has at its heart a mission to repair, restore and enrich the biodiversity of Lantau’s damaged and endangered landscape and create a new vision orchestrated by environmental education programmes and community based tourism.

Where Government sees bridges, container terminals, motor-racing tracks and mini-great walls of China, Ark Eden sees rainforest walks, bamboo and butterfly gardens, lotus ponds, historical farms and medicinal forests – in short a garden destination, always alive and changing with the seasons.

Ark Eden unfolds in three parts:

Part one offers a wide range of environmental education and ecological restoration programmes for students, visitors and corporations, and aims to link with other agencies to promote a broad canopy of community based eco-tourism. Interactive workshops and fieldtrips are led by professional teachers and local environmental experts and focus on local action to solve global problems.

The second phase would create satellite centres and projects all over the island that reflect the area's ecology, geography, history and culture, aiming to ecologically restore degraded areas of land and to give new life to old and heritage buildings by holding exhibitions and talks in them and acting as a centre for tours and workshops.

A final phase envisions an outdoor ecological park, with the same vision of The Eden Project, namely to showcase the spectacular range of plants and wildlife in HK, and how people and nature are intricately connected.
